GQ Jazz Ensemble is a dynamic small jazz group made up of Trumpet, Sax, Piano, Bass and Drums that plays standards with a large list of songs that have long been popular. This group strives to be fun, exciting, but not over bearing. We also have dynamic vocalists to add another level of entertainment to our performances. This group plays at a wide variety of performances including concerts, parties, wedding, political fundraisers as well as school clinics.

Gary Greenfelder truly enjoys playing brass quintet music for many reasons, primarily because of the challenge it presents and the fun it creates, while also providing the opportunity to play classical music! Having performed with the Wayne State University Concert Band and Brass Quintet helped to prepare Gary for his future in leading a brass quintet.

Kevin Chreston building on his formal training with the Oakland University concert band (many moons ago) Kevin enjoys performing several types of music.

Roger DeMeyere retired after a 40 year career in education to devote more time to family, friends and simply having fun playing music. Roger has played trombone since childhood in bands, orchestras and brass ensembles. He just loves music, all types: classical, dixieland, swing, jazz, and gospel, contemporary.

Dave Harwood plays French Horn in the Dynamic Resonance Brass Quintet. After many years of occasional playing, Dave is very excited to be part of DRBQ. Earlier in his musical career, he played in the Grosse Pointe Community Band (principal), the University of Michigan Marching Band.

Eric Totz enjoys the fellowship of playing in the brass quintet and performing music for audiences. He started out on the trumpet in middle school but volunteered to switch to the tuba.

Gary Greenfelder Orchestra (formerly the “One Beat Back Big Band”) was established in 1991.  To this day, the group has weekly rehearsals, is always learning new material and sharpening their skills as a unit.  The band began performing with their own annual dinner dances, moving to performing local summer concerts and fundraisers, including four annual “Swing for Charity” events at the Andiamo Celebrity Showroom.  Throughout this period the band was playing many events, from Yacht Club Balls and Weddings to Corporate Celebrations, along with Concerts, including several performances at the B’Jazz Vesper Series in Birmingham.  The band has recorded two CD’s the first in 1998 called “Standardized” and in 2007 we recorded “Live” at the Birmingham B’Jazz Vespers series.  Today the band has progressed to feature shows in a variety of venues.  We don’t just play, we entertain!
